Crysis 2 - Most Awesome Fps Ever

Crysis 2 is the best visually – graphically video game ever created. At least that is what Crytek, the development company, is claiming. And maybe they are right but the gamers are the judges here.

Crysis 2 is a first person shooter video game. It was released at March 2011, and the majority of the fps gamers (and not only) went crazy, if not all of them. They ve got a lot, I mean a lot of favorable reviews and ratings. But is the game really that good to deserve all those favorable ratings? Let's find out.

First things first. The story.

Earth has been overrun (or at least the major cities) by the aliens. Humans (as always) have no chance against them but they still fight for their survival. One of those cities is New York in Usa. The whole city is in ruins. You have never seen that city in such bad shape.

The player is a member of a marine team. Their mission is to locate and extract to safety a doctor who might has vital information against the war with the aliens. Of course nothing goes according to plan, because the aliens are much more superior than humans so the whole team gets killed. All but one of them survives. He is in pretty bad shape but he is still alive. A man with a weird armor saves him and he gives him his armor or suit if you like. And then he kills himself …..

So our hero has 2 missions now. One to find the doctor and two to save the world of course. Now he has to face deadly aliens and their vehicles plus the military groups who are trying to take under their control the city. He is flirting with death at every step.

Did all that sounded exciting to you? Yes? No? Ok I do not know the answer to that but all that sounded boring to me. I have seen and heard all that so many times that it drives crazy. In games and movies are recycling the same old same ideas no originality at all.

But hey wait a minute !!!! If the scenario of the game is boring then why someone would want to play this game? Why someone would want to spend his time and money on something so boring?

Actually I said the story is boring not the game !!!

Crysis 2 is one of the most exciting first person shooter video games ever created. So you will play the game for the ACTION. The action is what can keep you for hours and hours in front of your screen. A lot of shooting, and I do mean a lot of shooting, a lot of explosions, destruction, chasing in the ruins and everything else that makes a wonderful action movie. Did I say movie? Well yeah, playing this game is like you are the lead actor in an action movie.

So what makes this game special? Why is it so different than the other fps games?

Crysis 2 would be like any other first person shooter if the Nanosuit was absent. What is the nanosuit?

It is the thing that makes a normal soldier to a God of War. It is what all nations would like to have and is the thing that can literally transform one man to a whole army.

The Nanosuit is a state of the art exoskeleton which provides many incredible abilities to its wearer. The technology involved is so advanced and it is so expensive to make that there are only a very few prototypes. The wearer of the suit if he uses those abilities at the right time then he can be the master of the battlefield and he can control the outcome of the battle.

The abilities the suit provides are : Superhuman strength and speed, Invisibility, Increased armor, Thermal and tactical vision. Those abilities are the dream of any professional soldier. And let me clear something out. This suit was created to give its wearer more tactical advantages than the other soldiers on the field and not to make him a god. He can't just take he big gun, walk in the middle of the battlefield, kill everything that moves and then celebrate with the rest of his friends. This is not going to happen because he will be dead. Every and each ability lasts only for a few seconds to a full minute depending on how they are used. Every ability consumes energy and when the energy runs out the ability is deactivated, and then he is dead. So those abilities must be used wisely at the right time and place.

So is the Nanosuit the only thing that makes this game so great? Of course not. Let me give you a list then.

Graphics

Crytek promised to the gamers the most graphically perfect game ever created. Well I do not know if this the best visually game ever, but I do know that the game is freaking awesome. It is stunning. It is beautiful. It is wonderful. It is incredible. It is magical and rad. The detail of the scenery is unbelievable. And I can't even imagine the amount of work hours needed to complete this project. If you are playing this game then you better make sure that your machine is more than equipped because you won't be able to unveil all the beauty of the game.

Nanosuit

I have explained thoroughly why the suit is the best asset of the game. Without the suit you wouldn't have Crysis. This is the one and only thing that makes the game so unique.

Random events

Like in real life you can't be sure , when you are clueless what will happen at anytime. The best way to describe what happens in the game is this. Let's say you have to secure a subway station or better to cover the civilian exodus from the city. And here you are wondering underground and it is so dark you can't even see you nose and all of a sudden you here a terrifying and incredibly loud noise.

Your blood freezes and you desperately are looking around to find what is going on. And you see a flaming train coming out of a tunnel and then it crushes on a pile of rumble. And you find yourself staring at that train and wondering what else will happen if you take a few more steps. And that happened while you were coming out of another tunnel.

Similar events like buildings crushing and collapsing while you are in the middle of a battle or urban air battles right above your head or alien walking vehicles coming through the walls....are happening all the time. How can you be prepared for the unexpected.

Sound

The sound in a game is as important as the graphics. Magnificent graphics are useless without the appropriate sound and vice verse. What good can do if I can see an explosion and I will not hear the sound I should here during an explosion. What good can do to see the weapon firing but to hear an unrealistic sound like the one of a bib-gun.

Fortunately the developers knew that from the beginning and they made sure to create a spectacular movie...I mean game.

Vehicles

It makes a complete package when a player can drive vehicles in a first person shooter. I mean fps games were created to shoot things with your gun on foot. When they added a few vehicles for the players to drive then people went crazy because they had more choices. Choices for fun and tactics.

And the best part is when you can drive multiple vehicles. Unfortunately in Crysis 2 you can't drive multiple vehicles but you CAN drive one of the BEST vehicles ever. A heavy tank armed with a heavy machine gun and side rockets which can be fire multiple times. With this baby you can take down anything and I mean anything.

Artificial Intelligence

The AI of the game is among the best I have ever seen, not the best but among them. The enemies behave so smart. If they will be alerted during their routine patrols they will start searching for the threat. They will try to find whatever way is possible to flank or come behind you and finish you. They do not take lightly any threat and they wont stop until you will use the stealth mode and go invisible or until you are dead. Before you start attacking think first if you have covered side routes because that’s where they will hit you.

That's only a few of the good stuff the game has to offer. And a few lines are not capable to show you the greatness of this game. But something can't be too perfect, right? It always has some flaws.

No Voice

Yeah that's right the hero is mute. Other characters can talk to him all day long but it will be like they are talking to a wall. Plain and simple. The quiet mysterious type of hero is a fashion of the past (where there weren't voice actors) and now days we prefer our hero to say a few lines. This is something that I really hated in this game. Really , really hated it. How is it possible to spend all that money to create a new video game graphics engine and not pay an actor to give his voice to the main character. It sounds really cheap. Although the game cost a lot to be made that was a cheap move.

Artificial Intelligence

You may wonder what the hell a good feature is doing in the bad list. Well a lot of perfection sometimes can be bad. So on the one hand you have the realistic behavior of the enemies and on the other hand you have the same enemies behaving like inmates in a psychiatric institution. You are surprised? What else do you want me to call them when I see them running in circles with out stopping until the player kills them. Or when I see them jump up and down. Or when I see them running towards a wall and then slamming themselves on it. All that can be really fun while you watch them but when it reminds you that you have paid for something like that, then it really stops being funny.

Always The Same Story

The scenario idea is so saturated that it makes me wanna cry when I see it being recycled again and again. Always the same thing. Aliens attack earth, humans have no chance, humans retreat, then humans fight back, but still no luck, then hero comes, then humans become the new sheriffs in the town all of a sudden. It's always the same. Every now and then a variety would be nice. Thankfully someone will not play the game for its scenario but for the action, graphics and the shooting !!

Despite the very few disappointments Crysis 2 is one of the best first person shooters ever created. Crytek promised to produce it and they have delivered it. They made the gamers more than happy. Does it worth buying it and playing it to the end. Definitely without further questions.
